Le Bénin a une balance commerciale déficitaire, et pas des moindres… Alors que la valeur monétaire des importations augmente exponentiellement chaque année, peu a changé en ce qui concerne les exportations. En 2016, le Bénin importait $2.63 milliards de biens, 6 fois plus que le total de ses exportations ($410M).

D3IpyPlus: Experimenting with IPython Notebook + D3Plus for interactive viz

D3IpyPlus is an attempt to incorporate D3 interactive viz into an IPython Notebook. The main objective here is to take advantage of Jupyter’s interface which enables manipulation of the DOM, to build interactive plot. D3IpyPlus can also be used to quickly and automatically generate, from python, JS/HTML code for interactive data visualization.

How to simulate a phylogenetic tree ? (part 1)

Benchmarking phylogenetic algorithms often required the availability of a dataset of true evolutionary histories. As these true histories are hardly known, we rely instead on simulated datasets. In this series of post, I will present simple algorithms for the simulation of phylogenetic trees depicting the evolutionary history of a gene family. This first part will focus on the simulation of species tree under either a pure birth or a birth-death process.

Bénin, autrefois «quartier latin» de l’Afrique, titre dont certains se pavanent encore fièrement… à tort…

Eh oui, elle est bien loin cette époque. Et pour preuve, les résultats du bac n’ont plus jamais excédés 50% depuis 1973, chutant parfois aussi bas que 8.13%. Alors que le nombre d’étudiants particulièrement brillants aux examens scolaires ne cesse de croître ces dernières années, le taux global de réussite aux examens suit, bien malheureusement, la tendance inverse.
